The National Capital Heavy Construction Association Bursary Program 

We are offering the following four bursaries – each with a value of $2500:

  • 1 - The Founder’s Award - Robert Kimberley (financial need)
  • 1 - The Harley House Award (highest grade point average)
  • 2 - The National Capital Heavy Construction Association Award (industry related)

The Criteria of the Bursaries

The candidates must be:

The son, daughter or legal ward of persons who work for member firms.


An employee of a member firm.


The parent or guardian of applicant must have a history of employment with a member firm. 


  • Entering at least the 2nd year of an undergraduate program or the 1st year of a graduate or professional program

  • Registered full time at a Canadian Post Secondary Institution

  • In good academic standing and a minimum average of 75%

  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident


Required documentation

  • Transcripts of previous scholastic results

  • Evidence of University or College Enrollment

  • Completed Application

  • Two reference letters attesting to personality characteristics and accademic merit

  • Cover letter to address the following: 

    • To describe why they feel they should be awarded this bursary

    • To detail why they fulfill the requirements of this program

    • To define what sets them apart from other applicants

    • To meet the criteria of the bursary, describe the employment with a member firm

    • To demonstrate their financial need

The NCHCA reserves the right to determine in its sole discretion how many, if any, recipients there will be in any given year. Further, the group reserves the right to determine whether or not there are any applicants who meet the criteria required.  NCHCA will select the bursary receipents by Monday, August 7th, 2017 and will award bursaries at the Manhole Open Golf Tournament Banquet, being held at Greyhawk G&CC, on Monday, August 14th, 2017.  Bursary receipients are requested to attend this event to receive their award.
