Re: Letter of Introduction
Topic: Algonquin College ITCET Mentorship Program
My name is Ruth Richardson and I am the Algonquin College ITCET Mentorship Coordinator. I am delighted to be able to tell you about the International Trained Civil Engineering Technologist (ITCET) one year bridging program at Algonquin College funded by the Ministry of Citizen and Immigration Ontario. Due to the success of the first cohort in 2008/2009 we have received funding for another round of participants.
Algonquin College is showing leadership and innovation as it assists internationally trained civil engineers in filling the knowledge gaps to meet occupational specific language requirements, socio-cultural training and Canadian work experience to practice as Civil Engineering Technologists in Ontario.
The college bridging curriculum is delivered in classroom on the weekends for one full year, the participants also receive English occupational language classes and a work placement in local industry. ITCET also offers an exciting initiative for students and for you - a mentorship experience. This mentorship initiative has been proven to be invaluable in assisting ITCET participants to integrate to the Canadian work place and to share their skills and expertise, ensuring positive outcomes for both the mentor and the mentee.
Consider being a mentor or having a group of your colleagues become mentors, Algonquin College offers a structured program to assist you with this process. This mentorship will begin in December 2010 and run until May 2011. Orientation sessions will be held the last week of November and the first week of December or at a time that is convenient for you.
I would be pleased to have an opportunity to discuss how you can become partners in mentorship experience. You can contact me at the college at 613 727 4723 ext 7255 or email email@example.com
